Summary

The ITU standard for VDSL2 has defined numerous frequency allocation plans and many of them cannot co-exist in the same cable. If you do, the performance of VDSL2 may drop significantly. This is because upstream and downstream are strictly separated in different bands (an approach called FDD - Frequency Devision Duplexing). Below you will find a graphic representation of all variants being defined for Europa and North America If you click your mouse on each of these graphic bars, you will see the associated variant within such a frequency allocation.

An inside joke from the people who were involved in creating this standard is that in the end (after years of discussion) each operator/country got its own frequency plan. If you count the number of plans below you may wonder why this is only a joke.
